Commercial Acting
Why are Terry Berland Commercial Acting Workshops online?

The workshops are designed to prepare you for the reality of working in the business. And commercial first auditions are almost always self-taped.

What does a self-taped audition mean?

The actor is given instructions and a script and asked to tape themselves and then submit the audition to the casting director.

What does a talent need to know to submit a good self-taped audition?

The actor needs good lighting and a way to video themselves with good quality and know how to label and download their submission and send them properly to the casting director.

They also need to know how to audition in the self-taped venue.

How do Terry Berland’s Commercial Acting Online Virtual Workshops help actors?

This online virtual workshop prepares the actor for the most up-to-the-minute way of auditioning.

In Terry Berland’s Commercial Acting online workshop the talent will get feedback and guidance for the best lighting and filming, including framing and taking direction. Understanding the lingo the casting director uses in the direction is very important. Not following directions properly can cause you to lose a chance for your audition to be considered.

The actual audition process is simulated each week. Each week the talent is sent a script and directions. Their performance will be critiqued and will be brought to their next level.

What is the goal of Terry Berland’s Commercial Acting Virtual Online Workshops?

The goal is to become confident and bring out your authentic personality both online and in person at live commercial auditions.

Why are VoicePrint West classes online?

VoicePrint West VO classes are online for a better learning experience. The everyday life of a voice-over actor is self-taping and sending their home read auditions back to casting or production.

How does the process of self-taping and home reads work?

The casting director (or production) sends the actor a script and directions. The talent then has to record it at home with good sound quality and send it back to casting or production.

There are little to none in-person auditions happening in the voice-over industry.

What happens at a booking?

Sometimes the talent is invited to record at a local studio and other times they again record from home with the creatives virtually online.

How do I know what equipment to use?

Part of VoicePrint West training is educating you on equipment. Another good thing about VoicePrint West workshops being online is that as you are learning your sound quality is being checked out. You are right there working with your equipment that you will be auditioning with.
